Lacrosse Season Ends at PSAC Playoffs

LOCK HAVEN-- The Bloomsburg University lacrosse team had its season come to a close on Friday with a 21-11 loss to Lock Haven in the semi-finals of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) playoffs.

After Lock haven went on top 2-0, the Huskies battled back with three straight goals, two from Samantha King (Elkton, MD/Northeast), in a span of 23 seconds. The Lady Eagles responded with two goals just 17 seconds apart putting the home team back on top 4-3. King's third goal of the game with 18:24 left in the period tied the score at 4-4 before three consecutive goals by Lock Haven put them in front 7-4. Bloomsburg's Kelsey Quigley (Lansdale/Methacton) scored off an assist from Kylie Matthews (Gilbertsville/Boyertown) to cut the deficit to 7-5, but the Lady Eagles outscored the Huskies 3-2 in the final eight minutes of the opening period to take a 10-7 lead at the half.

In the second half Lock Haven outscored the Huskies 11-1 over the first 15 minutes to take control of the game and grab a 21-8 lead. The Huskies scored the final three goals of the game to make the final 21-11.

Bloomsburg, which finished with a record of 12-6, got three goals from King and two each from Quigley and Tia Mazzie (Barto/Boyertown). Lock Haven, now 15-3, got six goals from Amber Hoch.
